Lucasfilm is using Star Wars Day today to confirm a few long rumored Star Wars projects, and fans should be tickled about one of them, if not both.

Today, Lucasfilm confirmed that Taika Waititi, who’s pretty great at making awesome movies, will be directing and co-writing a Star Wars feature film for a theatrical release! He will be writing with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho) on the project.

Outside of those two names, that’s the only information released about this project, so no one knows if its for the 2022 film or beyond. It does sound like it’s just one movie though, and not a trilogy, so that is interesting.

The other news today from Lucasfilm is that the leak from last week about Leslye Headland is indeed true, so she will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the unnamed Disney+ series.

Nick and I will surely be riffing on these during this week’s new show, so make sure to tune in for its drop later this week!
