Variety is reporting that the upcoming High Republic-focused Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte has landed its leading actor with Amandla Stenberg.
There is very little information out in the wild about The Acolyte other than that it is being developed by Leslye Headland, so while the casting news is awesome, we still have next to nothing to go off of when it comes to story beats, character details, or general plot.
As for Stenberg, she initially made a name for herself in the first Hunger Games movie where she played Rue, the young friend of Katniss who is killed during the games. From there, Stenberg went on to star in The Hate U Give, The Darkest Minds, Dear Evan Hansen, and more before being cast in The Acolyte.
The Acolyte’s production is slated to start in mid-2022, so we may start to get some rumors hitting the Star Wars net around that time.
