According to LRM Online, the release trailer for The Mandalorian season 2 will drop during the first round of the NBA Playoffs on either August 21st or 22nd.
These dates are in line with the would be start date for Celebration 2020 which was canceled due to COVID-19, and the NBA playoffs will be shown on ABC and ESPN, which are both owned and operated by Disney.
With an expected release date of October 2020, it makes sense to have the season 2 trailer drop during a high viewership time like the NBA playoffs.
