According to the leaker community via Cinelinx, Lucasfilm and Disney are working on an animated series based around the new High Republic Era of Star Wars. The High Republic publishing initiative was supposed to kick off in September 2020, but it was delayed to a January 2021 start date due to complications with publishing.
It would make sense for Lucasfilm to pursue another medium for the High Republic since this entirely new timeline of Star Wars will likely be lost to most people. Even hardcore readers of the old Expanded Universe have not made the trek over to the new novels and comic series and have lost sight of awesome books like the new Thrawn trilogy and others. Making an animated series to accompany the novels would make the most sense.
As with all ‘leaks’ there is absolutely no information on the scope or details of the series other than that it is potentially being developed.
