In a Variety’s Actors on Actors clip, Pedro Pascal, who stars as Din Djarin on The Mandalorian, confirmed to Ewan McGregor, aka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, that The Mandalorian hasn’t begun filming for its third season yet.

I know this is making the Star Wars rounds as news, but quite frankly this has been the plan all along. Favreau made it clear that The Book of Boba Fett would go first, and that Mando was still in pre-production back in December of 2021. Considering that Book of Boba just recently wrapped filming, it makes complete sense that The Mandalorian hasn’t even started its principal photography.

With this knowledge in tow one should bank on The Book of Boba being released this fall to take The Mando’s usual slot. Then one could almost count on the third season of The Mandalorian being ready for release during the Fall of 2022. I don’t see it releasing any later than that window as it would be over two years since the last episode aired, and I don’t think Disney wants to keep a show like this stagnant for too long.

At this point I think 2022 will feature at least three major Star Wars shows on the schedule, and those will be Kenobi, Mando S3, and Andor. Hopefully we get some clearer release dates over the summer at one of Disney’s events.
