Timothy Zahn has already successfully rebooted the character of Grand Admiral Thrawn into the new Star Wars canon, and now he is continuing the story of the legendary Chiss Imperial officer with a 2nd trilogy which is set to hit shelves on September 1st.
The Ascendancy Trilogy, starting with Book 1: Chaos Rising, will serve as a prequel trilogy that covers Thrawn’s time with the Chiss Ascendancy before joining the Imperial Navy. Very little is known about his time in the Ascendancy outside of what was revealed through interactions with Admiral Aralani in Thrawn: Treason, the final entry into the new Thrawn trilogy, but there is plenty of story to tell.
If you haven’t read the current trilogy, make sure to give them a read, especially if you are a fan of Star Wars Rebels. The books take you right up to the point where he has his final showdown with Phoenix Squadron.
