Yesterday, Star Wars fans were treated to an announcement that many have been waiting decades for, at least those fans who also like to play video games.
Star Wars Outlaws, from Ubisoft, Massive, and Lucasfilm Games, is the first ever open-world video game set in the Star Wars universe. It’s a genre fans have been clamoring for, and one that has always sounded perfect for the franchise.
Star Wars Outlaws Details
The game stars Kay Vess, who is a brand new Star Wars character that is classified as a “clever” scoundrel in the galaxy’s underworld. Kay will be joined by her little furry buddy Nix, and a trench coat wearing badass BX Commando Droid.
The story will take place in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Apparently, Kay will be tasked with pulling off the biggest heist in Outer Rim history with the hopes of giving her true freedom, but that’s all that has been revealed.
In terms of gameplay, Outlaw is open-world and it looks to feature a third-person over-the-shoulder setup that many open-world games employ.
Massive’s Creative Director, Julian Gerighty, had this to say about the reveal:

With the Galactic Empire on the heels of the Rebel Alliance, and the criminal underworld thriving, an outlaw like Kay Vess has a whole galaxy of opportunity in front of her.”
