The High Republic Era of Star Wars has already given us some incredible reveals via new story lines and new Jedi characters, and now we are adding a little more lore with the reveal of Yoda’s younger self.
High Republic Yoda will be featured heavily in Daniel José Older’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series that is set to release sometime in 2021. Older says that while Yoda will seem familiar to most Star Wars fans, he won’t be the wise old master that everyone is used to.
“While he’s already a respected member of the Jedi Council at this point, we meet Yoda in IDW’s The High Republic Adventures series doing what he loves best: looking out for the young folks — in this case, a group of Padawans traveling around the galaxy to learn the ways of the Jedi with a hands-on approach. The Force study abroad program, basically.”

Aesthetically, designing Yoda for the High Republic Era wasn’t all that difficult, but the Lucasfilm art department felt like there should be some noticeable differences in his attire and his facial features. Grant Griffin’s concept art, seen in this article, shows a Yoda that is noticeably younger with less wrinkles, less gray hair, and a bit more spit about his demeanor. I guess that is what 200 years off your back does to your figure for little Yoda.

The High Republic Era of Star Wars is set to launch in January 2021 with Charles Soule’s noel Light of the Jedi.
