You can’t have a thriving Jedi Order without some padawans to continue the legacy and pass on the teachings of the light side of the Force. After seeing all of our main Jedi Master and Knights in the High Republic Era, Charles Soule, one of the driving creative forces behind this new Star Wars timelines, has now given us some information and images of the new padawans as well.
Let’s see what these young ones look like.
“The High Republic Padawans really run the gamut in terms of skill, devotion, and personality,” says Lucasfilm Publishing executive editor Jennifer Heddle. “Some are reluctant to seek out adventure while some are perhaps a little too eager; some are extremely talented in the Force while others maybe have to work a little bit harder. We wanted to showcase a wide range of young people in the hopes every reader can find someone they relate to.”https://www.starwars.com/news/inside-star-wars-the-high-republic-meet-the-padawans
“Bell Zettifar is apprenticed to the legendary Loden Greatstorm, and he hopes he survives the experience,” says Light of the Jedi author Charles Soule. “He and his master are currently stationed at a Jedi Outpost on the ore-world of Elphrona, deep in the Outer Rim, where they work to keep the peace and spread the light.”https://www.starwars.com/news/inside-star-wars-the-high-republic-meet-the-padawans
“Burryaga is one of the few Wookiees to travel from the lush forests of Kashyyyk to study in the ornate halls of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant,” says Soule. “While he is skilled with his two-handed lightsaber, it is Burryaga’s natural, effortless ability to sense the emotions of others that sets him apart from other members of the Order.”https://www.starwars.com/news/inside-star-wars-the-high-republic-meet-the-padawans
It is awesome to see a new canon Wookie Jedi added to the cast since we only ever had Lowbacca in the old canon world. I expect these characters to play a bigger role in the story than most might think initially, especially in the Young Adult and Children’s novels. We all know that padawans spend a lot of time with the masters during their training, so it would not surprise me if these young Jedi we tagging along on many of the adventures to come.
