This report should be considered a rumor, because while we trust our sources, the details couldn’t be vetted by an additional source, so the rumor classification is warranted.

There will be spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett’s finale, so proceed with caution.

Alternate End Credits Scene

According to what we have been told, the end credits scene featured in The Book of Boba Fett’s finale episode was supposed to feature another fan-favorite character in Boba’s bacta tank. If you watched the finale, then you know an injured Cobb Vanth ends up in Boba’s tank and a mod doctor is seen preparing for surgery. Based on what was relayed to us, Cad Bane was initially filmed in the tank. In fact, the scene played out identically to how it did with Cobb, but Cad Bane would’ve been the one in the bacta tank.

The finale episode was actually filmed first for the series, so if this rumor is indeed true, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that a script change was made to make the switch later on in filming. On paper, it would seem odd for Boba to want to try and heal Cad after Cad almost killed him, but you never know with this Boba and his motives. Maybe like Santo he was willing to give him a chance after almost being killed by said wookie, so there would have been supporting scenes to back Boba trying to save Cad after their duel.

The other item of note from the actual episode that may support this rumor, or at least the fact that the creators intended to keep Cad alive even though it looked like he was dead, is the monitor that begins beeping on Cad’s chest as he lay in the street dying.

The camera seemed to linger a bit too long over Cad while this device began to beep, which to many fans implied that it may be some sort of life saving system, or some sort of beacon to call for help. It wouldn’t be crazy to think that this monitor could be sending a signal to an ally, or more than likely Cad’s droid TODO. We didn’t see him in the series, but who is to say he wasn’t chilling on Cad’s ship while he walked the deserts of Tatooine.

Either way, based on this rumor, and that ominous shot of a seemingly dead Cad Bane, it does sound like the creative team intends for him to possibly live another day in the Mando-verse timeline.

The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 Plans

In addition to the rumor above, we were also informed that a second season of the show was in the works, but due to some of the critical reaction from fans, it has been put on hold if not scrapped at this point in time. Just like the end credits rumor, we couldn’t get a second source to sign off, so this could just be speculation, but Robert Rodriguez himself also said a second season could hinge on fan response.

Disney and Lucasfilm have changed course with future Star Wars projects based on fan responses before (TLJ and SOLO), so this rumor could definitely be true.

Nick and I will talk more about these rumors on next week’s episode of the SWTS, so don’t forget to tune into the Star Wars Time Show on a weekly basis via our podcast platforms or via YouTube if you prefer the livestream angle.
