Giancarlo Esposito recently spoke with Deadline about The Mandalorian season 2 and how his character, Moff Gideon, is connected with the season’s centerpiece weapon, the Darksaber.
(The saber) is a key to Moff Gideon’s past, which possibly has a lot to do with where he comes from and his desire to build a planet and bring it back together.

Giancarlo also mentioned that there would be no teasing or hiding the Darksaber in season 2 for the right moment. We will get some good explanation behind it and how he got in throughout the season.
You’ll see more of the darksaber, you’ll get the explanation of this ancient weapon to the modern world, a collapsed world. Where did this saber come from and how was it revived? It’s a key in our second season, which will be back sooner than later.

No surprise that the weapon that caused the Star Wars world to errupt in episode 8 of Mando season 1 will play a central role in season 2. I know the SWT boys can’t wait for the October release!
