It’s only been a few weeks since Kathleen Kennedy was asked about the previously announced Lando Calrissian spin-off featuring Donald Glover as Lando. Is it still happening or what?

Now we have a pretty definitive answer. Donald Glover and his brother Stephen have taken over development and writing of the Lando series from Justin Semien. Donald and Stephen previously worked together on the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning show Atlanta.

Donald has long wanted to return to Lando after his time playing the character in Solo, and he stated as much in a GQ interview in April:

“I’m not interested in doing anything that is going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I would much rather spend time with people I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with. We’re talking about it. That as much as I can say.”

Donald Glover to Write ‘Lando’ Star Wars Show for Disney+ – The Hollywood Reporter

Even though the duo have signed on to take over the show, we will still have to wait until the Writer’s strike has ended before getting any further details on the show’s direction.

Although, Bill Dee Williams took to X on Friday with a message that could confirm that this news is legit and he will be involved in some capacity.
