During a special event entitled ‘A Special Look Inside Disney Parks’, Disney Parks and Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro teased viewers with a potential new experience coming to Galaxy’s Edge, the creation of a ‘real’ lightsaber.

During the presentation, D’Amaro mentioned that fans will never know what the Disney Parks and Experience team is working on, and to cap off that statement, he ignited a lightsaber hilt that emitted a real ‘light blade’ to which D’Amaro says “It’s real.”

Obviously, Disney has not figured out a way to harness the power of the sun and create a true lightsaber that can cut through any known material, but it is within the realm of possibility that they have been able to make a more updated version of a stunt saber that does not need a giant plastic blade attached to it to emit a straight beam of light.

While Disney might give you a cool and safe at-home saber, the boys over at Hacksmith have already created what may be the closest to an actual death lightsaber as we are going to get for a while.
