In a short piece from Empire, Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm CCO, teased a few plans for the future of Grand Admiral Thrawn now that he has returned to the main Star Wars galaxy.

First, it sounds like Filoni will use a character teased in The Mandalorian Season 3 to loop him back into the Imperial Remnant, while also paying off on a Legends story connection. This character is Captain Palleon, who was seen on the Shadow Council lobbying for Thrawn’s return.

Dave said:

“We set up Captain Pellaeon in The Mandalorian, and that’s a character that goes with Thrawn, so I’d love to see the two of them together.”

This makes a lot of sense considering that Palleon came from the Heir to the Empire novel and served as one of Thrawn’s main subordinates, and he’s already been established as a Thrawn homer.

Having Palleon as a vehicle to loop Thrawn into the Remnant could lead to what Lars Mikkelsen believes his character will get into once he links back up with the Empire.

“Straighten out all the others and tidy up the shop. I could imagine something in terms of a power play within the Empire.”

Lars Mikkelsen

You know Thrawn will have to knock a few heads to get the Council in line, so Lars probably isn’t far off with his guess.

Dave also teased who may be Thrawn’s biggest foe in future Mandoverse stories, and it’s not Ezra Bridger. In fact, it’s Hera, who Filoni establishes as his main foil since Rebels.

“His foil throughout Rebels was Hera. Pitting the two generals against one another is something that I find interesting.”

It sounds like what Hera and the Ghost Crew started in Rebels with Thrawn will eventually come to a close many years later as Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau plan out the rest of the shows and films for this era of Star Wars lore.

Nick and I will talk more about Dave’s interview on this week’s episode of the SWTS, so don’t forget to tune into the Star Wars Time Show on a weekly basis via our podcast platforms or via YouTube if you prefer the livestream angle.
