Empire has been teasing Ahsoka stills from its upcoming issue, and today the series’ mysterious Inquisitor looking character took center stage.

No details were released with the image, but the character definitely has an Inquisitor feel to their armor and saber. The helmet is very Eighth Brother-like, but his fate is a bit murky thanks to Star Wars Rebels, where he seemed to die.

Some fans are hoping this character will be revealed as Barriss Offee, which would be pretty strong and would pay off on her open-ended fate from The Clone Wars. A few fanboys are hoping it’s Starkiller, but that is a pipe dream in my opinion.

The only thing that may be true about this character is that they will be played, at least during fight scenes, by Ming Qiu, who played a Jedi in the Kenobi series, and served as the Stunt Coordinator on Ahsoka.

Ahsoka the Wanderer

In the Empire issue Dave Filoni discussed Ashoka’s mindset during her series, and how she’s a lone wolf.

“She’s a wanderer at this point, and is in a lot of ways wary of any organisation as such because of the power that comes with it as a group. She walks a path that basically died out a long time ago, and there aren’t many like her left, if any. So that’s a lonely thing. What is that life like? If you are a loner, you have a very small circle of friends. What is it like, then, when you try to open back up?”

This makes it sound like we will see Ahsoka on her own initially, and then something will force her to reform the band as the say, and that process may not be as easy as it sounds for her and her former allies.

Dave also touched on how the series will provide balance for longtime fans of the character and the Rebels cast, as well as newcomers. He also sounds a bit anxious about how George will react to Dave’s work considering they co-created Ahsoka for The Clone Wars series.

“The biggest challenge was, there’s a whole bunch of audience that know her, and a whole bunch that don’t. She has one foot in the Star Wars that a lot of people know because of her connection to Anakin, and yet she’s all new and can go in her own direction, in her own way. I think that makes her an interesting bridge between what came before and what’s really possible.”

Dave on thinking about George’s reaction:

“It’s almost like when you turn in a big paper at school,” laughs Filoni. “It’s like, ‘Here it is!’”

New Shin Hati Details

EW sat down with the cast to talk about some of the new characters, so Ivanna Sakhno revealed a bit more about Shin.

“Shin is quite an intense and ambitious Force-wielder. She is very skilled in lightsaber combat. She is a new character, so I don’t want to give away too much of who Shin is, as I would love the audience to be able to discover her.”

She also hinted that while Shin may seem like she’s full on Dark Side, there are motivations that drive her character’s darkness.

“I hope that despite her darkness of a character, we’re able to also expand our understanding of that darkness within someone and the reason behind it. I love her. I really care so much about her, and I feel like it’s my job to take care of her and protect her.”

Captain Rex Confirmed?

Finally, and this is a grain of salt type of rumor, but One Take News is claiming that Captain Rex will appear in the series. While it wouldn’t be odd to have him show up, the source isn’t known for breaking major leaks, so don’t take this one to the bank quite yet.

Nick and I will talk more about Ahsoka on this week’s episode of the SWTS, so don’t forget to tune into the Star Wars Time Show on a weekly basis via our podcast platforms or via YouTube if you prefer the livestream angle.
